Our Work Leadership Programmes Feminist Leadership Reimagining Leadership Nicole is a 23-year-old Product Manager at Expedia Group and the Founder & Director of Noran Design and attended the 2-day leadership training and is here sharing her thoughts. A Supportive Space for Open Discussions I first heard about this leadership training through a colleague, and I’m so glad I took part. Over the course of four half-day workshops, I had the opportunity to learn alongside a small group of female colleagues from different divisions of the company. The open discussions and shared experiences made it an incredibly insightful and supportive space. This training helped me broaden my understanding of leadership and company culture—on an individual, team, and organisational level. Hearing the personal experiences of other attendees was both eye-opening and reassuring. It gave me a framework for assessing workplace culture more critically and provided practical tools to foster a healthier, more inclusive environment. Understanding Workplace Culture and Leadership As someone early in my career, having spent just over two years at the same company after graduating, I didn’t have a strong reference point for what a good company culture looks like—or how to spot potential red flags in team dynamics. I naturally tend to think positively and, at times, I may not immediately notice when someone isn’t being supportive in the workplace. Coming from Hong Kong’s fast-paced, high-pressure work culture, I initially perceived the UK’s work environment as a significant improvement. However, this perspective sometimes made me hesitant to question team dynamics or organisational processes. When challenges arose, my instinct was often to second-guess myself rather than consider whether there were underlying cultural or structural issues that needed addressing. Applying the Learnings to My Own Business Beyond my role at Expedia, the lessons I’ve taken from this training are shaping how I build and lead my own business. Creating an inclusive and supportive culture within my design business is now a conscious priority, and I feel more equipped to lead with confidence. A Highly Recommended Experience This experience has been invaluable, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to grow as a leader and better understand the impact of workplace culture.
