The Women Speak Out! project was a digital film project working with women who have  experienced inequality, discrimination or marginalisation. Our message is that women experience disadvantage in almost all areas of life, and women’s lives are getting worse across the board as they suffer most from cuts to public spending. 

What is Women Speak Out!?

The Women Speak Out! project was a digital film project funded by Comic Relief working with women who have experienced inequality, discrimination or marginalisation and who wanted to be filmed so they could tell their stories as part of a series of mini documentaries aimed at giving disadvantaged women a voice.

Our message is that women experience disadvantage in almost all areas of life, and women’s lives are getting worse across the board as they suffer most from cuts to public spending (some issues we covered: unemployment, immigration, detention of women, welfare cuts, domestic abuse, disability benefits, sexism in the workplace, maternity discrimination, racism, pension inequality, childcare costs, tax credits, carers, poverty – the list goes on).
