The Women’s Resource Centre (WRC)
WRC is a charity which supports women’s organisations to be more effective and sustainable. We provide training, information, resources and one-to-one support on a range of organisational development issues. We also lobby decision makers on behalf of the women’s not-for-profit sector for improved representation and funding. Here you can find information the work we do at the WRC.
WRC works for and with the women’s sector on a number of key policy issues to provide strategic and operational steer for discussions within the sector alongside this WRC and its CEDAW Working Group are committed to ensuring women and women’s organisations have a strong voice at the UN Committee
Women have undoubtedly been disproportionately affected by austerity measures. Rising unemployment, falling wages and cuts to benefits. Women’s organisations have also been hard hit and often seen as an easy target for savings. The women’s sector has always needed to be innovative in working with limited funding
WRC facilitated the development of the London Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Consortium, a unique collaboration of 29 women’s organisations in order to strengthen the sector, share expertise and learning and ensure the diverse needs of survivors of all forms of violence are met with a holistic and high quality provision
Women's organisations challenge discrimination and improve women's human rights. It was only after decades of campaigning by women's organisations that rape in marriage become illegal in 1991. Without women's organisations campaigning and lobbying, human rights for women in the UK would be far behind
