Training & Events Training & Events Calendar NBWL Elevate Session: Being Influential Without a Title Leadership does not always begin with a title. Many Black women are already shaping decisions, creating change and influencing outcomes long before they are formally recognised as leaders. But in workplaces, organisations and communities where authority is often tied to position, it can be easy to overlook the influence we already have. In this practical and reflective Network for Black Women Leaders Elevate Session*, founder and UK representative for Synergy DMC, Chantal Potgieter will explore how influence actually works, and how Black women can lead from where they are. Together, we will look at how to build credibility, shape conversations, strengthen relationships and communicate with authority, even when you are not the most senior person in the room. This session will reframe leadership as behaviour, not position, and offer practical ways to be seen, heard and trusted without waiting for permission or appointment. What to Expect Together, we will explore: What influence looks like beyond job titles and formal authority. How to build credibility before recognition arrives. Ways to shape decisions from the margins. How to communicate with confidence and clarity. The role of relationships, trust and consistency in being influential. How to lead with purpose, even when you are not officially “in charge”. This is a session for anyone who wants to better understand their own influence, use it with intention, and lead in a way that feels grounded, strategic and authentic. *Sessions are not recorded. Attend live to be part of the conversation. Who Should Attend This session is for Black women of African and Caribbean heritage who want to strengthen their leadership presence, build confidence and increase their influence in professional, community or entrepreneurial spaces. It may be especially useful for women who feel overlooked, are stepping into new responsibilities, are preparing for promotion, or want to be more intentional about how they lead without waiting for a title. As with all NBWL Elevate Sessions, this will be a supportive space for reflection, learning and honest conversation.
