News Blogs & News Civil Society Covenant - NCVO Survey Response Template Civil Society Covenant - NCVO Survey Template We have submitted our response to the NCVO survey regarding the new Civil Society Covenant. This is a new agreement of principles to improve and reset the relationship between civil society and government. According to the NCVO, the Covenant is designed to: Support collaboration between civil society and government Ensure mutual respect for the different roles played Build on and support existing agreements at a local level Complement other arrangements across the UK The Covenant consists of four draft principles, they include: Recognition - to ensure a strong and independent civil society Partnership - to ensure effective service delivery and policy-making Participation - to ensure people and communities can be heard and make a difference Transparency - to ensure civil society and government have the information needed to best serve people and communities Whilst these principles, in theory, sound positive we need to ensure they are inclusive of our specific concerns and demands as women’s organisations. We also need to make sure there is an effective structure of accountability in place to support both public bodies and civil society organisations to uphold the principles. It is important the women’s sector make their voice heard in this consultation as we are so often unheard and underrepresented. Having said that, we know you are strapped for time, so feel free to use the template below to fill out your survey responses here. The deadline for a response is at midday on January 12th.
