Who is NBWL designed for? 

NBWL is specifically tailored for Black women, especially those from the African diaspora. We aim to provide an environment tailored to their unique experiences and challenges.

How can I apply for the NBWL Coaching Programme? 

Navigate to our Programmes section and select NBWL Coaching in the menu. You'll find all the application details there.

How long are the coaching sessions? 

Individual sessions with the coach are 30 minutes, while group sessions run for about 90 minutes once a month over the course of the programme.

I’m pretty busy. What's my time commitment for the NBWL Coaching Programme?

The NBWL Coaching Programme offers participants 6 coaching sessions:

1st session: One-to-one session with the coach (30 minutes).

2nd- 5th sessions: Group coaching together with the coach and nine other women (90 minutes x 3 sessions).

6th session: One-to-one session with the coach (45 minutes).

I can't join this cohort. When is the next one? 

No worries! We encourage you to stay updated for future openings by joining our mailing list.

I just missed the application window. Is there a waiting list?

How will joining Network for Black Women Leaders benefit me? 

NBWL offers you a comprehensive platform, including mentorship, resources, networking events, and a safe and supportive community. It's designed to support Black women at every career stage, offering growth both professionally and personally.

Are there any membership fees or charges for the programmes? 

Most of our resources are accessible without any charges. However, some programmes or events might require a nominal fee, which will be clearly listed.

I’ve been out of work for a while. How can NBWL assist me? 

Regardless of your career stage, NBWL is here for you. Our programmes, especially NBWL Coaching, can help you reconnect with the professional world and offer networking opportunities to reignite your career journey.

I'm not a Black woman, but I'm interested in the programme. How can I be involved? 

While NBWL is curated for Black women, WRC offers a range of programmes with similar leadership opportunities. Explore the Feminist Leadership Training Programme.

Do you host one-off events or events near my location? 

Yes, we frequently organise events in different locations. Visit our Training and Events Calendar to stay updated.

I’m keen on becoming a mentor. What’s the process?

What is the timeline of the mentor programme?

The NBWL Mentoring Programme runs from September to June each year.

Are there prerequisites for joining as a mentor or participant? 

While professional experience is valued, the cornerstone of NBWL is passion, commitment, and the will to uplift and guide other Black women. Any specific criteria are detailed under each programme.

What's my time commitment for the NBWL Mentor Programme?

The NBWL Mentor Programme offers mentees 6 mentoring sessions:

  • One 30-45 minute ‘Get to know me’ initial chat with your mentor.
  • Five 1-hour one-to-one sessions with your mentor.
Mentors and Mentees each complete an evaluation form that will inform future programmes and funding for this initiative.

Are the sessions confidential? 

Absolutely. Ensuring a safe and supportive environment is our priority. All members, including mentors and coaches, adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines.
