Ascent is a collaborative partnership project, with the Support Services strand providing support to organisations working with those experiencing domestic and sexual violence. The strand aims to address the long-term needs of these organisations, making them more sustainable and resilient and to access information and learning that will enable them to support those affected by violence in a sustainable way.

This report summarises the findings from the annual Ascent needs assessment (2021). Imkaan’s research and evaluation team were commissioned by the Ascent support services to organisations strand to undertake this assessment.

The Ascent support services to organisations strand sits within the wider Pan-London VAWG Consortium and consists of a group of well-established specialist ending VAWG organisations who are dedicated to providing training, sector development and sustainability support to the VAWG sector.

Partners include Against Violence and Abuse (AVA), Imkaan, Respect, Rights of Women (ROW), Women and Girls Network (WGN), and the Women’s Resource Centre (WRC). The partner organisations offer a wide range of specialisms in VAWG service design and delivery, policy and practice, legal and human rights law, Black and minoritised-led ‘by and for’ models of specialist support, therapeutic and trauma-informed practice, work with perpetrators and infrastructure
support and professional development.
