Rural Acorns is an anagram of my name, Laura Conlon.

I graduated with a B.A. Hons in Fine Art in 1996 which led me to also gain an M.A. in Design in 2022.

My medium of creative expression has evolved so much over the years. In 1996, it was wood sculpture. In 2013 when my husband died, it changed to oil and watercolour monoprints.

In 2017, I had a breakdown. After months and years of counselling, dipping between thoughts of suicide, despair and tiny glimpses of wellness, I discovered hand sewing helped. My work today is textile, mixed-media and I run Sewing For Sanity workshops for women.
