Are you new to leadership or would like to move into a leadership role one day?

Do you want to be a feminist leader of social change?

Through training and peer action learning this FREE programme investigates and explores what makes a successful leader and a feminist leader of social change.

2-day Training: 

Thursday 5 March: 09:15-16:30

Friday 6 March: 09:15-16:30

Social Action Follow-Up:

Thursday 23 April: 10:00-16:00

What's it about?

This programme provides you with theoretical and practical skills in feminist leadership that you will be able to apply in your life, in your organisation and in your community.

Who's it for?

This is for women staff members or volunteers at women’s voluntary and community organisations or groups in the UK. The programme is open for all women but we will prioritise women who identify as Black and minoritised between 20 and 30 years old.

The programme is suitable for those with little or no experience of leadership, are new to leadership and emerging leaders rather than established leaders.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of 2 days of intensive training on feminist leadership.

The training covers the following modules:

  • Feminism, Intersectionality and Leadership
  • Power and Empowerment
  • Unconscious Bias Interrupted
  • Burnout: Signs, Impact, Prevention
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Project Management
  • Presentation and Pitching
Social Action Project

Following completion of the training, the group will undertake a small-scale social action project where they will be able to put their leadership skills into practice. The trainers will return for a follow-up session to support the progress of the social action project. This session will include action learning elements that are tailored for the needs of the group. Once the project is complete, the group will present an evaluation of the project on the online platform.


By the end of the programme participants will have:

  • Built their confidence in taking leadership positions
  • Developed their ability to manage their organisation and others according to feminist values
  • Gained insight and awareness of how to use feminist values in their organisation
  • Gained capabilities of how to apply an intersectional and feminist way of working
  • Increased ability to lead and manage people
  • Built their confidence and gained techniques in public speaking
  • Developed their ability in managing people and challenging situations
  • Gained insight and increased their capability in creating social change
  • Increased ability to create and manage campaigns or projects
  • Developed their capabilities in advocacy skills
  • Increased their ability in taking leadership positions
  • Gained knowledge about what it entails to be a feminist leader
  • Developed techniques and capabilities to be a strong leader in their own right

Time commitment

Each participant need to commit at least 5 days to participate in this programme:

  • 3 days for the training, and
  • 2 days minimum for the social action project, which they will work on together with the rest of the group on times suitable for them (with facilitation and support available by the trainers).
