It focuses on deepening participants understanding of how the Equality Act 2010 can be used as a valuable tool to assert rights and challenge discrimination. It is delivered by Rights of Women and primarily uses case examples from women's rights and tackling violence against women and girls contexts.

Who's it for?

This course is for anyone at any level who wishes to learn more about the Equality Act and how it can be used in their day to day work. 

What's it about?

The course provides a basic overview of the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. It explains how the Act can provide protections for individuals in relation to unfair treatment and promotes a fair and equal society through the Public Sector Equality Duty. It includes a short history of how the Act was formed and looks at case study examples to see how the law can be applied practically. It also explains how the Act recognises inequality in society and provides certain exemptions to address this - for example, to allow an employer to only employ women for certain positions or in relation to services that require women-only spaces.

This course is funded for women’s organisations or projects based in London working with those affected by sexual and domestic violence
