The work that women's charities and organisations are doing is more vital than ever. We are in awe of all the women working on the frontline to support their communities and their unwavering support for women in this time of crisis. We will be sharing updates from our member organisations to shine a light on their incredible work.

Sutton Women's Centre

Sutton Women's Centre has 35 volunteer counsellors, the majority are qualified and others are 3rd or 4th year students studying for a diploma or degree in counselling. When the lockdown began, they changed their service from face to face counselling to telephone or on-line counselling. They are also providing support and advice to women who have contacted them. They are currently supporting 100 women on a weekly basis since the lockdown began.

They have also seen a demand for food and toiletries and are able to provide this from donations received by the centre from supermarkets, Morrison's, fruit and veg supplier from Worcester Park and from a local women's Muslim Group.

"This could not have been done if it was not for the dedication of our Counselling Manager Pauline. She is also responsible for managing the Freedom Programme, which we hope to roll out on an on-line basis this month." (Liz McGarry, Sutton Women's Centre)
