NEP Response to Specific Duties Consultation
The Government Equalities Office (GEO) published a proposed new set of specific duties
for public authorities, as part of a new Public Sector Equality Duty to be introduced under the
Equality
Bill. The consultation was a chance to shape these specific duties.
The GEO sought views on what should be in the specific duties, and on
the criteria for deciding which public bodies should be subject to them. You can read NEP's response to the Consultation as a
word document or as a
pdf document. The Compact refresh: National Equality Partnership response
The
Compact is a crucial document for charities setting guidelines for
better working relationships with public bodies and as a key tool in
driving forward good practice. The National Equality Partnership has
written a response, highlighting what we believe to be the most
pertinent points to consider for the equalities sector. We are pleased
that the draft Compact document now includes a broader emphasis on all
of the equalities strands, and the role public bodies anf the third
sector in tackling discrimination. Read the NEP COMPACT response (PDF) or here (Word)
