Building futures: creating a financially strong women’s sector
Running a financially strong, resilient and sustainable Women's Organisation is becoming an increasingly difficult challenge, especially in the face of the current economic downturn. WRC's
Building Futures project works with women’s frontline organisations, supporting them to explore different sustainable funding options, in order to secure their survival through uncertain times
You will be able to access practical support, tailored to your needs, in areas such as:
- How to be more successful in tendering for services
- Writing more successful tenders and fundraising bids
- How to better engage with funders to ensure more ongoing support
- Forming effective partnerships
- Social enterprise
We will provide this support through:
- Local surgeries across London where you can meet, listen and pose questions to inspiring speakers with first hand experience of the issues set out above including local commissioners, small voluntary organisations who have formed successful partnerships or social enterprises and other funding experts
- Trainings where you will network with other women’s organisations and receive practical tools, information and skills in making your organisations financially stronger
- Support sessions where development team members are on hand to provide advice and support you while you work on a funding application or monitoring report
- One to One support where we will work directly with you to help make your organisations financially more independent
- Online community where you can receive relevant information and network and exchange your experiences with other women’s organisations endeavouring to make themselves more financially secure

Online Resources
We have developed a range of resources designed to help women's organisations to develop a sustainable funding mix, these are all available free on the WRC website
- Sustainable funding guides - These practical factsheets take you through some of the key ways in which you can make your organisation more financially stable.
- Sustainable funding case studies - These provide examples of women’s organisations that have explored different ways of becoming more sustainable
- WRC Funding directory - A database of funders that award either grants or loans especially those which support the work of women's organisations
- Affordable Premises - resources to support women's organisations to locate and secure affordable premises
