why women? resources

WRC have produced various resources as part of our why women? campaign which you can use to raise awareness about women's rights and the important work that women's organisations do.

why women? reports

The first why women? report looks at what women's organisations do, why their work is so necessary and why they need support.

The second why women? report, Why women-only?, looks at the value and benefit of women-only services.

The third why women? report maps funding to women's organisations in England between 2004-2007.

why women? film

This short (20 minute) documentary about women's organisations is available from the Women's Resource Centre. It has been screened at numerous events and conferences and features interviews with women who work in women's organisations.

why women? poster

This A2 poster celebrates the important impacts on policy and legislation that women’s organisations have made in the UK.

why women? charter

Read our campaign charter with information about women's organisations and the campaign demands to support them. We also have a shorter factsheet with basic information about the campaign and how to find out more information.

why women? postcards

A series of postcards to raise awareness of women’s organisations. Displaying the postcards at your workplace or events or sending them to colleagues and friends is a great way of promoting the why women? campaign.

To order the film, poster or postcards e-mail whywomen@wrc.org.uk or call 020 7324 3030.

Timeline: working for women's equality

A timeline from the 1800s to the present day about the achievements women have made and key events in the UK.

Although much has been achieved for women’s equality, there’s still a long way to go – each year thousands of working women are discriminated against because they are pregnant, rape convictions are at an all time low, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and the pay gap between men and women for the same job is 16%. Without a strong women’s sector, the advances needed could be seriously undermined.

Statistics: uncovering women's inequality in the UK
