Timeline: working for women's equality
A timeline from the 1800s to the present day about the achievements women have made and key events in the UK.
Although much has been achieved for women’s equality, there’s still a long way to go – each year thousands of working women are discriminated against because they are pregnant, rape convictions are at an all time low at just 5.6%, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and the pay gap between men and women for the same job is 13%. Without a strong women’s sector, the advances needed could be seriously undermined.
Statistics: uncovering women's inequality in the UK
"Haven't women achieved equality now?" Well, read these
statistics and see if you still think that.
