WRC's Funding directory

WRC Funding Directory (PDF 131 KB) is a database of funders that award either grants or loans. It aims to raise awareness of more specialist grants that can support the work of women's organisations.  It is not comprehensive and is intended as a starting point.

The directory will be updated on a monthly basis.

Top funding tips

As with all fundraising activity it is wise to ‘think outside the box’ when exploring funding opportunities. It is also recommended that you promote your work as widely as possible and network extensively. Some funders will only invite applications from organisations they know or who their trustees know as with the example of the Sigrid Rausing Trust.

Remember:

  •  plan your projects and activities well in advance of needing the funding
  •  look at case studies on prospective funders websites to get a feel for the sort of projects they fund (and to make sure that your project is not like the others)
  •  be innovative. Independent funders are more likely to take risks with projects that dare to be different!
  •  read all guidance carefully and submit all the supporting documents you are requested to and no more.
  • Take advantage of all the assistance and advice on offer (from funders, umbrella organisations and other charities in your situation)
