A timeline from the 1800s to the present day about the achievements women have made and key events in the UK.
Although much has been achieved for women’s equality, there’s still a long way to go – each year thousands of working women are discriminated against because they are pregnant, rape convictions are at an all time low at just 5.6%, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and the pay gap between men and women for the same job is 13%. Without a strong women’s sector, the advances needed could be seriously undermined.

Women of all ages have been campaigning for equality for many years.

Unfortunately, women still suffer prejudice and discrimination in many areas of their life.
