Consulting body: Greater London Authority
Date: September 2002 - February 2003
Details: The Women’s Resource Centre made a number of responses to the Mayor of London’s ‘Draft London Plan’, a strategic plan for Greater London, consultations during 2002 and 2003. As well as responding to the Mayor’s consultation in 2002, WRC also engaged with the Examination in Public, giving evidence to an independent panel established to scrutinise the Mayor’s plans. WRC generally welcomed the draft London Plan and made comments about women and gender equality in relation to housing, employment, transport, education, health, the environment, waste and pollution and London’s diverse communities. We also raised the issue of the sustainability of the women’s sector who we argued could play an important role in assisting the Mayor to achieve the policy outcomes.
