Seizing CEDAW

Women's Resource Centre and the Equality and Human Rights Commission present a capacity-building and strategy conference following on from the CEDAW (UN Convention to Eliminate All Forms of Discrimination Against Women) examination of the UK government (July 2008). The aims of this conference are to:

  • Increase women's organisations' understanding of how CEDAW can be a key tool in your lobbying work and in holding central and local governments to account; and
  • Initiate a women's sector lobbying and influencing strategy to 2011 - the next time the UK government will be examined by CEDAW.

Confirmed speakers from the women’s sector include: Southall Black Sisters, South Essex Rape and Incest Crisis Centre, Northern Ireland Women’s European Platform, Rights of Women, Equality Now, End Violence Against Women Coalition and WOMANKIND Worldwide.

Date and venue: Tuesday 24 March 2009, London

RSVPs are essential and places are strictly limited. Some travel bursaries may be available to women’s organisations outside London. To book, or for more information, please contact admin@wrc.org.uk or 020 7324 3030.
