As part of Women's Aid's ACT campaign, and to mark the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence, Women's Aid is asking its supporters to sign a petition to end the postcode lottery of domestic violence services.
While you're at it, they'd also like you to sign a petition to ensure domestic violence is tackled as part of the school curriculum and write to Hazel Blears and Ed Balls about these issues (you can download model letters from their website).
Meanwhile, according to the WNC's violence against women enews, on 13 November, the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith publicly announced to the Home Affairs Committee that the Government is going to implement a national Violence Against Women strategy, and that work is already underway on this. A more detailed announcement will be made about this in the next few weeks.
