Why is the UN failing women?

VSO is calling on the United Nations to create a UN Agency for Women.

VSO has consistently heard back from its volunteers that women’s inequality is holding back progress on reducing poverty. Despite advances in gender equality, discrimination still holds back millions of women from fulfilling their potential.

The United Nations system is currently failing women by fragmenting responsibility for improving their situation across a number of small, poorly funded bodies.
